Are you Eligable?
You are eligable for Medicare if you are turning 65 and have paid enough Medicare taxes, or if you have been receiving Social Security Disability income for twenty-four months.
What Does This Mean?
If you are eligable for Medicare this means that you have a seven month window in which to enroll in Medicare coverage. This window lasts from the three months before, the month of, and three months after your eligability month. During this time you can decide whether to entroll into a Medicare Advantage Plan or a Stand-alone Prescription drug plan. Also, if you decide to stay with Original Medicare, you can decide whether or not you need a Medicare Supplement plan.
